Each month we will be running a competition for the CUBS and SCOUTS of 1st Lucas Heights. This was the MAR2008 Comp.
This comp was won by Joe M from the cub section & Nick H from the scout section.
Scout Code is a type of code called a pigpen code because of the shapes it creates.
In the 16th century, Freemasons used this type of code to keep their letters private.
The cipher does not substitute one letter for another; rather it substitutes each letter for a symbol.
The alphabet is written in the grids shown, and then each letter is enciphered by replacing it with a symbol that corresponds to the portion of the scout code grid containing the letter.

A =
B =
Y =
Z = ![]()
The symbol with the dot in it is the second letter of the symbols pair of letters.
STEP 1: Download the Entry Form and break the code and decode the 3 messages on the entry form.
Download the answer sheet to see if you were correct.
Congratulations to the Winners for draw 0022008 - Joe M from the cub section
& Nick H from the scout section.
